On the 18th of April, a total of 11 states and 1 union territory will contest the Lok Sabha elections for 95 Parliamentary constituencies in India.

The Lok Sabha elections began from the 11th of April and will continue till the 19th of May 2019.

The Lok Sabha elections are divided into 7 phases, scheduled on the 11th of April, 18th of April, 23rd of April, 29th of April, 6th of May, 12th of May and the 19th of May.

On the 11th of April, a total of 20 states contested the 1st phase of the Lok Sabha elections.

The states contesting the Lok Sabha elections in the 2nd Phase, scheduled on the 18th of April are:

Assam

Lok Sabha seats – 5

Constituencies – Silchar, Autonomous District, Mangaldoi, Karimganj and Nawgong

Major parties – The Asom Gana Parishad, the Indian National Congress (INC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.)

Bihar

Lok Sabha seats – 5

Constituencies – Kishanganj, Katihar, Purnia, Bhagalpur and Banka

Major parties – The INC, the BJP, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Janata Dal (United) [JD(U).]

Chhattisgarh

Lok Sabha seats – 3

Constituencies – Rajnandgaon, Kanker and Mahasamund.

Major parties – The INC, the BJP and the Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (JCC.)

Jammu and Kashmir

Lok Sabha seats – 2

Constituencies – Srinagar and Udhampur

Major Parties – The National Conference Party (NCP, ) the INC and the BJP.

Karnataka

Lok Sabha seats – 14

Constituencies – Udupi Chikmagalur, Hassan, Chitradurga, Dakshin Kannada, Tumkur, Mandya, Mysore, Chamarajanagar, Bangalore Rural, Bangalore North, Bangalore Central, Bangalore South, Chikkballapur, Kolar

Major Parties – The INC, the BJP and the Janata Dal (Secular.)

Maharashtra

Lok Sabha seats – 10

Constituencies – Akola, Amravat, Nanded, Parbhani, Beed, Buldhana, Hingoli, Osmanabad, Latur, Solapur.

Major Parties – The Shiv Sena, the INC, the BJP and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP.)

Manipur

Lok Sabha seats – 1

Constituencies – Inner Manipur

Odisha

Lok Sabha seats – 5

Constituencies – Barharh, Sundargarh, Bolangir, Kandhamal and Aska.

Tamil Nadu

Lok Sabha seats – 39

Constituencies – Tiruvallur, Chennai North, Chennai South, Chennai Central, Sriperumbudur, Kancheepuram, Arakkonam, Vellore, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Tiruvannamalai, Arani, Viluppuram, Kallakurichi, Salem, Namakkal, Erode, Tiruppur, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Pollachi, Dindigul, Karur, Tiruchirappalli, Perambalur, Cuddalore, Chidambaram, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, Sivaganga, Madurai, Theni, Virudhunagar, Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, and Kanyakumari.

Major Parties – The grand alliance of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the INC and the grand alliance of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and the BJP.

Uttar Pradesh

Lok Sabha seats – 8

Constituencies – Nagina, Amroha, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Hathras, Mathura, Agra and Fatehpur Sikri

Major Parties – The INC, the BJP and the grand alliance of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Samajwadi Party (SP.)

West Bengal

Lok Sabha seat – 3

Constituencies – Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling and Raiganj

Major Parties – The INC, the BJP and the Trinamool Congress (TMC.)

Puducherry

Lok Sabha seat – 1

Constituency – Puducherry

Major Parties – The INC and the BJP.

The Lok Sabha elections will begin polling from 7:00 A.M., and will continue till 6:00 P.M.

The results of all the Lok Sabha constituencies will be declared on the 23rd of May.

The major parties contesting the Lok Sabha elections are the Indian National Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party.
