In Beijing, approximately 92% citizens of the total 22 million population would be infected by the Wuhan Virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID,) said the study.
On the 24th of January, a new study by researchers from the University of Hong Kong revealed that by January end, the 31st of January, more than 90% population would be infected by the deadly virus.
According to the study, several cities could face multiple infection peaks as people were on the move after the first peak and millions have been travelling for the Lunar New Year period. “Surveillance programmes should be rapidly set up to monitor the spread and evolution of Sars-CoV-2 infections, and further work should be done to track the transmissibility, incidence and infection rate of the epidemic,” the researchers wrote.
In addition, China reported nearly 13,000 Wuhan Virus related deaths in hospitals between the 13th of January and the 19th of January. The health officials also said that a majority of population of Beijin have been infected with the Wuhan Virus.
China’s Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently released a statement, “681 hospitalised patients had died of respiratory failure caused by coronavirus infection, and 11,977 had died of other diseases combined with infection over the period.”
In addition, after the Chinese Government dropped strict “Zero COVID-19” rules, the nation started registering a massive rise in COVID-19 cases, making the situation uncontrollable in China.
Moreover, after Beijing, cities in Mainland China are also expected to have an outbreak of the Wuhan Virus in the coming days.
