Children Between 15 to 17 Year Old To Register For COVID-19 Vaccine Doses From January 1

Children aged between 15 years to 17 years could register themselves for the vaccine dose against the Wuhan virus, from the 1st of January 2022.

On the 27th of December, Monday, the Government of India, announced the registration to begin from 1st January 2022, on the CoWIN portal.

Students and children who do not have an Aadhar Card could register themselves using School ID cards. Dr. R.S. Sharma, the Chief of the CoWIN platform said they have made provision for students to use their ID cards (10th registration certificate) to register.

The COVID-19 vaccination for children between 15 years old to 18 years old, would roll out from the 3rd of January, 2022. In addition, the Government of India also announced booster shots for senior citizens and front line workers from the 10th of January. The booster shot, also known as the precaution shot, would be given to prevent the spread of the new COVID-19 variant, Omicron.

After the detailed discussion, the Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi made the announcement in an address to the nation.

Mr. Narendra Modi, on the night of the 25th of December, addressed the nation and announced the same. He said, “Coronavirus is not gone. We need to be alert and cautious. The world is talking about Omicron. Today is Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s birthday and Christmas, so we decided to announce this step today.”

Meanwhile, in a span of almost a year, the nation has administered 141 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses, under the “Nationwide Vaccination Drive,” started on the 16th of January 2021.
