On the 25th of July, India reported another biggest spike in the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 cases. 

In the last 24 hours, the country recorded 48,916 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the total to 13,37,022.

With these updates, the total number of active cases is now 4,56,071, recovered/discharged cases at 8,49,432 and deceased cases at 31,358.

Out of the total cases, majority of cases are from Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

However, the situation in India is said to be under control as the fatality rate decreased to 2.38 % from the previous 2.41 %. Meanwhile, the Health Ministry of India said the recovery rate of India is more than 50%, which is 63.45%.

The Centre said that the confirmation rate or positivity rate for India is continuously reducing and currently stands at 8.07%.

The Central Government asked the government of all states and union territories to continue tracing, testing and treating in high numbers. It may bring massive positive cases, but after hitting a peak, the cases would begin to decline bringing a better situation.

The emphasize to conduct tracing, testing and treating have been put on major 9 states, which reported high COVID-19 cases.

The nine states are:Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Assam and West Bengal.

The health ministry said that effective clinical management of Covid-19 cases has led to an improvement in recovery figures while case fatality has been falling continuously.

In addition several state governments announced a partial lockdown to curb the spread of the virus.

A few districts of Andhra Pradesh are under strict lockdown, West Bengal is under lockdown on even days, Nagpur, Karnataka and other few places are under lockdown.

Meanwhile, the Indian Council Medical Research (ICMR) approved medical Institutes and hospitals are conducting clinical trials for the COVAXIN, a potential vaccine for the disease.

On the 24th of July, the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) gave a dose of COVAXIN to a 30 year old man for trials.

In the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Science (NIMS) in Hyderabad also began the human trials of the potential candidate vaccine for the deadly virus.

If approved, the Government of India is planning to launch the vaccine on the 15th of August, the Independence Day 2020.

However, an official announcement regarding the same is yet to be made.
