The possible third wave of the Novel Coronavirus, also known as COVID-19 is said to be more rapid in transmission and dangerous for children and adults.  After the recent second wave of COVID-19 peak, in May 2021 the Central Government approved the vaccine against the Wuhan virus for 18 to 44 years old people, which would add on to a huge number of population, which needs to be vaccinated.

On the 1st of May, the Government of India approved the vaccination for adults and urged them to receive doses.  It is mandatory for everyone to take COVID-19 vaccine, especially for yougster, who are exposed to the virus, due to their work schedule and other outgoing responsibilities.

However, so far in the age group 18 to 44 years, only 11,18, 19,570 have got the first jab, whereas 37,01,692 have got the second dose.  Before the development of the COVID-19 vaccine, people were in fear and demanded for vaccine against the virus from the Indian Medical Department and the Central Government.  However, after the development of the vaccine, people adapted a casual attitude towards the vaccination process and are not only doubting the process, but also spreading myths about the same.

Despite several social media handles and Indian Medical Department, the Union Health Ministry’s assurance, the young population of India are taking the deadly disease casually.

If not taken the vaccination drive seriously, the third wave of the Wuhan virus could be most dangerous for children and adults.  Meanwhile, speaking of children, the Indian Council Medical Research and other prestigious medical institutes of India, like the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) are conducting trials and likely to announce vaccine approval for children soon.

Currently, four vaccines, two India made and two foreign vaccines are available for people at several vaccination centres in India. Of the four, one is the Serum Institute of India (SII) made Covisheild, the Bharat Biotech International Private Limited manufactured COVAXIN, the Dr. Reddy’s Laboratory’s Russia made Sputnik V and the United States of America (U.S.A.,) manufactured Pfizer Moderna.

Stay tuned for further updates.
