In the wake of Omicron, the new variant of the Wuhan Virus (COVID-19,) information technology (IT) companies are likely to continue work from home (WFH.)
Fearing the consequences of the new dangerous COVID-19 variant, the Hyderabad Software Enterprise Association (HYSEA), the apex body of IT/ITeS companies in Hyderabad suggested WFH.
Mr. K. Aroll, the President of the HYSEA, said, a total of 5 % employees of large companies are working from office (WFO) and in mid size and small companies, 30-70 % employees are working from office (WFO.) However, amid the rising number of Omicron cases, globally including in India, the Hyderabad association are mulling to reduce the percentage of employees WFO. Initially, the majority of the IT companies in Hyderabad decided to start WFO culture for most of the employees, which is now expected to be delayed until further notice.
Meanwhile, on the 2nd of December, India reported two confirmed cases of the Omicron strain. Reported in Karnataka, the Omicron variant of the Wuhan virus in India, alarmed state governments and the Central Government. Acting upon the new global threat of Covid-19, Telangana Health Department and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government conducted various meetings and directed to enhance surveillance at Hyderabad Airport.
In regard to this, a total of 10 teams are screening the passengers arriving from ‘at-risk’ countries.
