After the resumption of bus, trains and metros in Hyderabad, fear of a third wave among the authorities is increasing.

Despite the Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavieus (COVID-19) pandemic, people are carefree, avoiding COVID-19 guidelines.

At the Hyderabad Railway Station, bus stands and metro stations, people are constantly violating COVID-19 norms like social distancing, mask wearing and sanitization. In addition, even the authorities seem careless as at many stations and bus stands, there is no one to police the public and check their temperature. Bus drivers and metro staff are also avoiding the issued order of 50 % occupancy.

Recently after a month of lockdown, in June, the Telangana Government ordered the reopening of public transports, rails and metros in a phased manner with certain guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs.) However, the passengers and the authorities are violating a few guidelines, avoiding the Government orders and the possible third wave of COVID-19, expected in October.

However, contrasting to the situation, the authorities confirmed no guidelines of COVID-19 are being violated. The Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) Managing Director (MD) Mr. N.V.S. Reddy addressed a media source and said, “We are following all COVID-19 norms. For temperature check scanners have been provided and security personnel are directing every passenger to check the temperature. We are making announcements about mask wearing and physical distance in the trains just after the next station announcement. Also the functioning of scanners at every station is being verified daily.”

Similarly, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) also confirmed that they are following all the norms and social distancing between the commuters is also being maintained.

Meanwhile, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government is constantly reminding the public to follow COVID-19 norms.
