India on the 30th of October crossed 8 million or 80 lakh cases of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.
In the past 24 hours with 48,648 new cases of COVID-19 infections, India reported 80,88,851 cases in total.
The new cases were confirmed by the Union Health Ministry. Besides 48,648 new cases, the nation recorded 563 were death cases and 57,386 discharged or recovered cases in the past 24 hours.
The updated data is available on the official website of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW.)
As per the official website data, India has 80,88,851 positive cases, of which 5,94,386 are active cases, 73,73,375 recovered/discharged cases and 1,21,090 are deceased.
In addition, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) confirmed a total of 10,77,28,088 samples tested for COVID-19 till date. Of these 11,64,648 samples were tested on the 29th of October for the Novel Coronavirus infection.
Speaking about the Novel Coronavirus testing capacity, the MoHFW said India has exponentially scaled up its testing capacity from one in January to more than 10.65 crores.
The very high testing has resulted in a continuously falling positivity rate, which is 7.54% .
Meanwhile, the recovery rate of India from COVID-19 is over 90% and the mortality rate is 1.50 %.
