India: Two Omicron Cases Detected, Says Union Govt

On the 2nd of November, two Omicron, the new variant of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) has been detected in India. 

Getting into details, a 42 year old and 62 year old men tested positive for the dangerous Omicron variant in Karnataka.  The news was confirmed through a press conference, addressed by the Union Joint Secretary of Health Ministry Mr. Luv Agarwal.  He said, the two cases were confirmed after conducting genome sequencing tests for Omicron variant, first found in South Africa.  Furthermore, primary contacts of the infected people are under supervision and being monitored closely.

 In addition, besides Karnataka, Maharashtra and Kerala are also announced to be ‘States of Concern’ in India, for Omicron. 

The Union Government confirmed the news and urged the people to stay cautious and get their COVID-19 vaccine doses immediately.
