On the 3rd of September, India reported close to 46,000 new cases of the Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19.)

In the past few days, the Novel Coronavirus cases have been rising constantly, an alarming possible third wave. It is to be noted, the Medical Department officials and experts along with the World Health Organisation (WHO) alerted a possible third wave of the deadly virus would occur in October.

With this alert, the rising number of single day cases is a matter of concern for the Union Health Ministry and state health ministries. In the past 24 hours, India reported a total of 45,352 new cases of the Wuhan virus, 366 fatalities and 34,791 recovered cases from the deadly Wuhan virus.

The new cases were confirmed after conducting 16,66,334 sample tests for COVID-19. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) confirmed a total of 52,65,35,068 tests for COVID-19 till date.

With this, India has 3,29,03,289 positive cases, of which 3,20,63,616 are recovered/discharged cases, 3,99,778 are active cases and 4,39,895 are deceased. The aforementioned figures were confirmed by the Union Health Ministry and updated on the official website of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW.)

It is to be noted, South Indian states like Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh are continuously reporting a rise in the COVID-19 cases.

With this, India has an active case rate of 1.22 % from the previous 1.15 %, 97.54 % recovery rate and 1.24 % fatality rate.

Meanwhile, the Union Health Ministry said a total of 67 crore vaccine doses have been administered in the country so far. In addition, 53,90,051 first doses and 20,94,282 second doses were administered in the past 24 hours.

Recently, the Ministry of Home Affairs alerted states and union territories (UTs) to take precautionary measures and steps to control the possible third wave of COVID-19. The MHA urged people to avoid crowds and gatherings during the upcoming festival seasons to prevent the possible spread of COVID-19. The Ministry also asked people to strictly follow COVID-19 appropriate behavior like wearing face masks, social distancing and use of sanitizer.
