On the 17th of December, India recorded 24,021 new cases of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.
This is the 11th consecutive day, India is recording single day COVID-19 cases below 30,000.
On the morning of the 17th of December, the Union Health Ministry confirmed 24,010 new cases, 355 fresh fatalities and recoveries.
The updated data is available on the official website of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW.)
As per the MoHFW website, there are 99,56,557 positive cases, of which 94,89,740 are recovered/discharged cases and 3,22,366 active cases and 1,44,451 deceased cases.
Though the Nationwide count of COVID-19 count is close to 2 million cases, the recovery rate is nearly 95.31 %.
The number of active cases are below 3.25 lakhs and 3.40 %. Despite being the second worst COVID-19 nation, India is performing better with rapid testing and strategy of curbing spread of the infection.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR,) till the 17th of December, India conducted 15,78,05,240 sample tests for COVID-19. Of the total, nearly 11,58,960 samples were tested in the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile, only 10 states and union territories account for 75.19 % of the new deaths.
