Amid rising fear of a new Wuhan virus variant, Omicron, the Indian Aviation system and state aviation departments tightened their screening security.
A day after India reported two confirmed cases of Omicron, the Mumbai Airport Authority, informed about positive cases of 9 international travelers in Mumbai. Of the nine travelers, one is a South Africa returnee, where Omicron, the new variant was reported first. All the travelers landed at Mumbai airport, between the 10th of November to the 2nd of December.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC,) on the 2nd of December, Friday, said they have collected the samples of all the COVID-19 positive people. Their samples would be sent for Genome Sequencing tests, mandatory to detect Omicron.
Meanwhile, a total of 23 countries including India have reported the new COVID-19 Variant, Omicron.
