In the past 24 hours, Telangana witnessed a total of 359 new Wuhan virus cases, also known as the Novel Coronavirus cases, 2 deaths and 494 recoveries from the deadly virus. With this, the Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) active cases in Telangana, came down to 6,728
Highlighting the recoveries, death and new cases, compared to the previous, the COVID-19 cases reported a decline.
The figures of the COVID-19 infection were released through a media bulletin. On the evening of the 20th of August, the Telangana Health Department released a media bulletin and updates about the COVID-19 situation in Telangana.
With this, Telangana now has 6,54,394 positive cases, of which 6,728 are active cases, 6,43,812 are recovered/discharged cases and 3,854 are deceased.
The new cases were confirmed after conducting 73,899 COVID-19 tests of samples, taking the cumulative total to 2.38 crores (2,38,19,727) till date.
According to sources, the highest number of cases have been reported from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) region, areas of Medchal Malkajgiri, Nalgonda, Warangal and Karimnagar. The GHMC reported the highest number of COVID-19 (74) cases in the past 24 hours, followed by Karimnagar (29) and Nalgonda with 25 cases.
Meanwhile, with a slight fall in the COVID-19 cases, the active containment zones are at 18 from the previous 19 with no micro containment zones in Hyderabad.
The recovery rate of Telangana also improved to 98.38% from the previous 98.36% and the fatality rate of COVID-19 at 0.58 %.
It is to be noted, of the total active cases, 79.90 % cases are asymptomatic, whereas, only 20.10 % are symptomatic. In addition, a total of 1.63 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Telangana till date.
