Telangana Crosses 3 Lakh COVID-19 Cases With 111 New Cases

On the 8th of March, Telangana crossed 3 lakh cases of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19. 

Till the 8th of March, the State reported 3,00,011COVID-19 cases. The State crossed the 3 lakh mark a week after it completed one year of the pandemic. The first COVID-19 case was reported on the 2nd of March 2020. The state crossed the 1 lakh-mark in August 2020 and 2 lakh mark in October 2020.

In the past 24 hours, Telangana reported 111 new COVID-19 cases. Of the total new cases, the highest were from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) with 27 cases, followed by 10 in Rangareddy. Eight districts reported no cases, while in the remaining 23 districts the daily count was in single digit.

In addition to the 111 new cases, the State reported 2 deaths and 189;recoveries from COVID-19.

The data of the COVID-19 situation in Telangana is being updated on a regular basis through a media bulletin. The bulletin is being released by the Telangana Health Department under the State Health Ministry.

According to the bulletin, Telangana has 3,00,011 positive cases, of which 2,96,562 are recovered/discharged cases, 1,642 are deceased cases and 1,807 active cases.

Meanwhile, the fatality rate remained 0.54 per cent against the national average of 1.4 %, recovery rate is at 98.85 % and active caseload rate is at 0.61 %

In addition, in the past 24 hours, close to 19,929 tests were conducted, which is 50 % less than the number of tests conducted on weekdays. A total of 16,082 samples were tested in government labs and 3,847 in private labs. With this, the cumulative number of tests rose to 89,84,552.

The daily testing target for the state is 5,600 as per the World Health Organisation (WHO.)
