Telangana Government Allows 100 % seating capacity in Telangana Theatres

With the decreasing number of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 cases, the Telangana Government allowed 100 % occupancy in theatres.

On the 4th of February, the Telangana Government issued orders regarding the same.

The orders were issued by the Chief Secretary of Telangana Somesh Kumar. The order read, “The Government, keeping in view the orders issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs and SOPs issued by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting…hereby permit to enhance the seating capacity to 100 % in cinemas/theatres/ multiplexes (sic.)”

According to the issued orders, theatre owners could now screen movies with 100 % occupancy.

The decision to do so was taken after the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting gave relaxations in functioning of movie theatres in Indian states.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government also asked the theatre owners to manage and enhance seating capacity with COVID-19 guidelines and Standard Operating Protocols (SOPs) by the Government.

Earlier on the 23rd of November 2020, the State Government allowed reopening of cinema halls across Telangana with 50 % of seating capacity.

The announcement would be a huge relief for cinema theatre owners in the State, who were facing losses due to the Novel Coronavirus pandemic since 2020 March.
