After the constant rise in the Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government is planning to impose a partial lockdown in the State.

According to sources, the K. Chandrashekar Rao Government is likely to impose night curfew, operation of film theatres and offices with 50% occupancy and work from home to the employees suffering from comorbidities. In addition, majority of restrictions are likely to be in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) which is reporting 50% of the total fresh cases reported in the Telugu State. The State Government is also mulling to limit the gatherings at function halls, multiplexes, bars and pubs to prevent the fast spread of the Wuhan virus.

The Government official said, “The visit of people to entertainment zones -cinema halls, multiplexes, clubs etc will also be restricted. The Greater Hyderabad limits, including Medchal and Rangareddy districts, will be under close watch in view of the huge number of cases reported on a daily basis(sic.)”

The final decision would be taken during a Cabinet meeting, called by the Telangana Chief Minister Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, on the 17th of January.

During the meeting, KCR would discuss the third wave of the Wuhan virus pandemic and its impact on public health.

Notably, the decision came at a time when Telangana is reporting over 3,000 fresh Wuhan virus cases.
