The Telangana High Court (HC,) on the 19th of April, reviewed the current situation of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 in the State.

During the hearing, the Court lashed out at the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government over the measures taken to contain the spread of the Novel Coronavirus. The High Court questioned the K. Chandrashekar Rao led State Government why they are not taking any actions to decrease the flow of people in public places.

The Court also questioned the Telangana Government about the measures taken at bars, pubs and theatres. It is to be noted, the TRS Government did not impose any restrictions on the bars, theatres and clubs amid the massive surge in COVID-19 cases.

In regard to this attitude, the Telangana High Court expressed anger at the Telangana Government. The Court also criticised the TRS for not mentioning the measures in the report submitted to the Court to prevent the virus.

The HC also questioned the State Government whether pubs and liquor shops are more important than the people’s life.

In the past few days, Telangana has been witnessing a massive rise in the COVID-19 cases. In the past 24 hours, the State reported 4,009 new cases, taking the total active cases to 39,000.

Overall tally of COVID-19 crossed 3.50 lakhs in Telangana, taking the recovery rate to 88 % and fatality rate to 0.54 %
