Telangana Police Fines Over 5,000 People For Violating COVID-19 Guidelines

Concerned with the rising number of the Wuhan virus (COVID-19) cases and its new variant Omicron’s threat, the Telangana Government recently imposed strict guidelines of COVID-19.

One of the rules of the strict guidelines include mandatory face mask wearing. In order to ensure everyone follows the guidelines, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRSTelangana Police Fines Over 5,000 People For Violating COVID-19 Guidelines) imposed a fine of Rs. 1,000 on violators. After the implementation of the strict rule, between the 1st of December to the 7th of December, the Telangana Police fined 5,000 people. In just one week, the Hyderabad Police fined 2,778 people, the Cyberabad Police registered 1,568 cases and the Rachakonda Police registered 770 cases.

In addition, across Telangana, 13,570 persons have been fined in the same period.

Meanwhile, the Telangana Health Department imposed strict surveillance at airports to prevent the spread of Omicron in the State. The Telangana Health Minister Mr. T. Harish Rao and Dr. G. Srinivasa Rao, the Director of Public Health in Telangana, urged people to be cautious and follow COVID-19 appropriate behavior in Telangana.
