Telangana Reports 591 COVID-19 Cases With 2 Deaths In 24 Hours

On the evening of the 2nd of August, the Telangana Health Department released a media bulletin and updates about the Wuhan virus cases (Novel Coronavirus) situation in Telangana.

The every day cases of the State are now below 700 since the past two weeks, taking the active cases to 8,819 from the previous 9,873. In the past 24 hours, Telangana reported 591 new cases, 2 fatalities and 643 recoveries from the deadly virus. With this, Telangana now has 6,45,997 positive cases, of which 8,819 are active cases, 6,33,371 are recovered/discharged cases and 3,807 are deceased.

The new cases were confirmed after conducting COVID-19 tests of 1,07,472 samples, taking the cumulative total to 2.21 crores till date.

According to sources, the highest number of cases have been reported from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) region, areas of Medchal Malkajgiri, Khammam, Warangal and Karimnagar. The GHMC reported the highest number of COVID-19 (68) cases in the past 24 hours, followed by Medchal Malkajgiri (30) and Rangareddy (20.) With this, the active containment zones also reduced to 29 from the previous 33 with no micro containment zones in Hyderabad.

In addition, the majority of the reported COVID-19 cases in Telangana are from districts like Hyderabad, Karimnagar, Khammam, Warangal Urban, Rangareddy, Medchal Malkajgiri and Nalgonda.

The recovery rate of Telangana is now 98.04% from the previous 98 % and the fatality rate of COVID-19 at 0.58 %.

It is to be noted, of the total active cases, 79.80 % cases are asymptomatic, whereas, only 20.20 % are symptomatic.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, the 1st of August, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) discussed the COVID-19 situation in Telangana. The Chief Minister of Telangana, Mr. K. Chandrashekar Roa directed the concerned officials to take the necessary measures and control the spread of the Wuhan virus. The CM also asked the concerned authorities to submit a detailed report regarding the same.
