For the 6th consecutive day, the Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) single day cases were below 1,000. In the past 24 hours, Telangana registered 858 new cases with 9 deaths and 1,175 recovered/discharged cases.
The major decline in the cases is said to be due to the recently imposed lockdown in the State and other precautions taken by the State Government. In addition, the strict surveillance by the State police also played a major role in containing the spread of the Wuhan virus. It has been 12 days since the State Government lifted the lockdown and the situation is said to be under control.
The new cases were confirmed through a health bulletin released to the media on the 2nd of July. The State Health Department releases a bulletin every day at 8:00 P.M.
According to the health bulletin released on the 2nd of July, Telangana now has 6,25,237 positive cases, of which 12,726 are active cases, 6,08,833 are recovered/discharged cases and 3,678 are deceased cases.
In Telangana, the regions of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the highest number of cases with 107 cases, followed by Khammam (81) and Nalgonda (64.)
In addition, according to the bulletin, the Telangana Medical Department conducted 1.08 lakh sample tests for COVID-19, taking the total to 1.88 crores till the 2nd of July.
With this, the recovery rate of Telangana improved to 97.37% from the previous 97.32% recovery rate. In addition, the fatality rate of COVID-19 remains stable at 0.58 %.
Meanwhile, compared to the previous 88 containment zones, there are 82 active containment zones in Telangana. Of these, the highest number of containment zones are in Mahabubabad and Hyderabad (20) followed by 19 in Bhadradri Kothagudem district.
