In order to vaccinate all the Road Transport Corporation (RTC) drivers, cab drivers and auto drivers in Telangana, the State Government is going to conduct a special vaccination drive. 

The special drive is the part of the massive drive to vaccinate all the high risk people in the State. The decision to vaccinate all the drivers of the State was taken during a meeting, held on the 31st of May. T. Harish Rao, the Telangana Finance Minister and Somesh Kumar, the Chief Secretary of Telangana, chaired the meeting and decided to begin the special vaccination drive from the 3rd of June.

According to sources, nearly 10,000 drivers would be given the vaccination doses against the Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19.)

This special drive would be organised in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits, and in other district headquarters.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) decided to vaccinate high risk people through these special drives which include people of several working categories. Delivery boys, journalists, LPG Cylinder workers, drivers, shopkeepers, vendors and others are ones, listed as high risk spreaders of the Novel Coronavirus.

Under this special drive, the State Government plans to vaccinate 7,80,000 people, of which 30,000 would be vaccinated daily. In regard to this, the TRS Government organised a total of 32 vaccination centres across the State. This strategy is likely to be effective and would help in vaccination of majority of people.

Besides these special vaccination drives, the State Government and Medical Department is continuing the vaccination drive for people above 45 years, especially ones waiting for their second doses.

Meanwhile, Telangana Government on the 31st of May, extended the imposed lockdown till the 10th of June.
