Telangana Wuhan Virus Update: Reports 216 New Cases With 2 Deaths In 24 Hours

The Wuhan virus cases, also known as the Novel Coronavirus, reported a slight surge of cases in Telangana. After reporting below 200 cases, in the past 24 hours, the State reported cases numbering above 200.

On Monday, the 27th of September, Telangana reported 216 new cases with two deaths and 241 recoveries. Compared to the 26th of September, statistics of cases, the State reported 46 more COVID-19 cases, 2 deaths and reduction in recoveries by 18 cases. However, in the past 24 hours, the State conducted a higher number of tests, compared to the tests conducted on Sunday, the 26th of September.

The new cases were confirmed after conducting 44,584 COVID-19 tests of samples, taking the cumulative total to 2.62 crores till date

According to sources, of the new cases, the highest number of cases have been reported from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) region with 61 new cases. Of all the districts, the GHMC limit showed no improvement and reports more than 50 cases regularly.

The aforementioned data was confirmed through a health bulletin, released by the Telangana Health Department. On the evening of the 27th of September, the department released a media bulletin and updated information about the COVID-19 situation in the State.

With this, Telangana now has 6,65,284 positive cases, of which 4,585 are active cases, 6,56,785 are recovered/discharged cases and 3,914 are deceased. The recovery rate of Telangana improved to 98.72% from the previous 98.71% and the fatality rate of COVID-19 remained constant for the past two months at 0.58 %.

However, in the South Indian region, Telangana is the only state with low single day cases of the Wuhan virus. Other states like Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, the COVID-19 situation is risky with a high number of cases and active cases above 5,000.

In addition, Dr. G. Srinivasa Rao, the Director General of Public Health of Telangana, urged people to follow COVID-19 behavior and visit nearby medical centres if any symptoms of Dengue or COVID-19 are shown.

It is to be noted, of the total active cases, 79.90 % cases are asymptomatic, whereas, only 20.10 % are symptomatic.
