In a recent incident, two Gujarat doctors joined back their duties hours after the demise of their mothers.
Dr. Shilpa Patel and Dr. Rahul Parmar lost their mothers respectively, on the 15th of April. However, instead of mourning their deaths for days, these doctors of Gujarat SSG Hospital decided to join back duties and save people’s lives. One of the doctors said her mother had said there was no greater duty that they could perform.
According to sources, Dr. Shilpa Patel’s mother Kanta Ambalal Patel, 77 year old, died at 3.30 A.M., on the 15th of April. She was admitted in the COVID-19 ICU after a week’s battle with the virus. Later, after her demise, Shilpa Patel diligently wrapped herself in the PPE suit once again and performed her duty before everything.
In another similar incident, Dr. Rahul Parmar, too, lost his mother, Kanta Parmar (67), who passed away from age-related issues in Gandhinagar on Thursday. But Dr. Parmar, who is the nodal officer for Covid management and part of the dead body disposal team at central Gujarat’s biggest hospital, finished the cremation rituals and rushed back to join duty on Friday. He said, “It was a natural death. I finished the cremation rituals with my family and returned to Vadodara.”
These inspiring stories of doctors performing their duties before their personal grief came at a time when India is witnessing a second wave of COVID-19. As of now, the Nation is the second worst COVID-19 hit Nation, first is the United States of America (U.S.A.)
