After launching the awaited political party in Telangana, Y.S. Sharmila Reddy, the daughter of former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Y.S. Rajashekara Reddy, criticised K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana.

Two days after launching the YSR Telangana Party in the State, Ms. Sharmila Reddy lashed out at the KCR led Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government over the vaccination process. She said, in the last month, KCR halted the vaccination drive in Telangana. The administering of first doses, second doses and doses to people between 18 to 44 years old were also on hold.

Reacting to the same, Ms. Sharmila asked, how vaccines are being available for private sectors, but unavailable for the public at government hospitals. She even took to Twitter and alleged the TRS Government of black marketing.

(How can Coronavirus vaccines, which are not available to the Government, be made available to the private sector? Do people ‘s lives matter to you? Hoping for commission? Or to reduce the burden of vaccines? Dora Muthakhand will rule for another year.)

Ms. Y.S. Sharmila Reddy expressed shock at how even after Hyderabad being the vaccine hub of India, unable to get vaccines for its people. It is to be noted, one of the manufacturers of the Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine is the Hyderabad based Bharat Biotech International Private Limited pharma company. The company manufactured COVAXIN, which has been approved by the Drug Control General of India (DCGI) and is being administered to people as COVID-19 vaccine.

However, the Telangana Government was unable to get enough doses, following which they halted the ongoing vaccination drive for two weeks in May. The criticism of Y.S. Sharmila came days after she floated her own political party in Telangana. She recently registered her party named the YSR Telangana Party with the Election Commission of India (ECI.) As per the ECI notification, the 16th of June 2021 would be the last day to file an objection against the YSR Telangana Party.

Meanwhile, Y.S. Sharmila is likely to contest the 2023 Assembly elections in Telangana against the ruling TRS Party.
