The Andhra Pradesh Government on the 3rd of June, Friday, issued guidelines for the online movie ticket sale in the State.
Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, decided to levy a 2% commission on all cinema tickets sold online. Furthermore, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) led Andhra Pradesh Government imposed the rule that the A.P., State Film Television, and Theater Development Corporation will sell movie tickets online (APFDC.)
The movie halls and theaters selling movie tickets need to abide by the terms and conditions of this nodal agency, APFDC. Anyone who wants to see a movie in any part of the state must now purchase tickets through this gateway and sell the same to customers.
Even if people purchase tickets through private applications, they mandatorily need to pay the government a 2% commission.
Theatre management has been instructed to make online movie tickets available on platforms, seven days before the screening of new films.
Notably, the new guidelines for movie ticket sales came after the Andhra Pradesh High Court, which gave a green signal to the APFDC to sell movie tickets online.
Furthermore, with the newly implemented rule, multiplex, cinema halls, and single-screen theatres are still needed to take permission from the APFDC for the ticket sale online.
