Today, megastar Chiranjeevi celebrates his 62nd birthday and in honor of him here are some rare pictures along with his biography. The south Indian actor brought in his birthday with the teaser release of his 151st film titled Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy.

Many know the actor as Chiranjeevi which is actually his stage name. Chiranjeevi was named Konidela Siva Sankara Vara Prasad. The actor began his film career in 1979 with the Telugu film called Punadhirallu.

Chiranjeevi is surprisingly the only actor in Indian cinema to play single, double and triple roles. He has been awarded the Filmfare Award seven times now. He was also the first South Indian actor to be invited for the Oscar Awards in 1987.

The Tollywood actor was presented with a Honorary Doctorate from the Andhra University for his skills and talent. Former AP Chief Minister Anjaiah gave Chiranjeevi his first nickname which was T Nata Kishor. Chiranjeevi was the first actor after the reign of NTR to release blockbuster after blockbuster.

The actor entered the political scene in 2008 with the emergence of his political party Praja Rajyam in AP. The actor turned politician took part in the 2009 general elections winning 18 seats out of the 295 seats in the AP State Assembly. Chiranjeevi was elected as the Member of the State Assembly from Tirupati.

In 2011, Chiranjeevi decided to merge his party with the Indian National Congress. After more than a year of merging, the actor was nominated to the Rajya Sabha. He was elected and took his oath as the Upper House member in 2012.

With all the influence and money Chiranjeevi also decided to dive into humanitarian work. In 1998 he founded the Chiranjeevi Charitable Trust (CCT.) The trust also includes the Chiranjeevi Blood and Eye Banks.

In AP, Chiranjeevi’s blood and eye donation banks are the second largest recipients. The trust has made more than 1,414 eye donations and 68,000 blood donations.

Chiranjeevi is one of the most well known actors in South Indian and recognised nationally and internationally. The actor was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2006 from the Indian Government.
