Documentary on AR Rahman titled “Jai Ho” to premiere on October 26

Chennai: A documentary titled “Jai Ho” featuring music maestro AR Rahman’s journey is hearing up to premiere in Discovery channel on October 26. Earlier, Rahman didn’t want to have a documentary on him but later filmmaker Umesh Aggarwal convinced him.

Rahman said, “There were lot of offers before to do a documentary on me, but I felt it was not necessary. And after the Oscars and all the brouhaha, I felt that people could get some kind of inspiration from my life, through the journey of my life, through the way I’m making music.”

“And then Umesh, an award-winning filmmaker, contacted me and he said that initially it was only for the consulates all over. It was the kind of exposure which was good, but I didn’t know that all this would happen,” he added.

“People living abroad and having the Indian flag, they deserve to know about the people of India. I didn’t know it’ll come out charmingly like how it’s made. I cannot watch myself and hate to watch myself,” Rahman said.

“Jai Ho” will feature the interviews of eminent personalities like Aamir Khan, Danny Boyle, Subhash Ghai, Mani Ratnam, Shekhar Kapoor, Ashutosh Gowarikar and Andrew Lloyd Webber. The video was shot across the globe. It is heard that some his personal experiences are also embedded in the film.
