A 26 year old Manish Tiwari, is a huge fan of Kareena Kapoor Khan. This obsession to talk to her landed him in the jail. Manish, a paramilitary trooper hacked into Kareena’s income tax account in September 2016, with the hopes of finding her number. He filed a declaration of 2016-17 with a false amount.
Income Tax accounts are generally linked to individuals mobile numbers. In his confession, he stated that he hacked the account with hopes of coming to her notice and getting to talk to her. He also said that in the past he helped his colleagues pay their taxes and hence knows how the system works and all the loops in it.
The Bandra Kurla Complex Cyber Police arrested the accused from Chhattisgarh and brought him to Mumbai on Monday afternoon. DCP Sachin Patil said that they have been trying to track down the Internet Protocol(IP) number to nab the accused. It was later revealed that he used his mobile to hack into the account, but pinning down the number proved a challenge as the phone had several IP addresses allotted to it. He had used the PAN number of Kareena Kapoor Khan which he obtained from the net to log into the account.
The officer said, “When our team questioned him on Sunday, he confessed to having illegally got onto the IT account of the actress using her PAN number that he found online.” When IT claims are filed, the receipt states the mobile number of the individual, being a die hard fan, he expected to talk to her by gaining the number from the receipt. When the police grabbed him, he pleaded guilty. Charges of impersonation and relevant sections of Information Technology Act have been levied on Manish which is a bailable charge.
The accused, Manish, not only hacked into the account but also paid quarterly taxes and changed the password for the account. The Chartered Accountant who handles the tax claims of Kareena Kapoor Khan realized that he couldn’t log in to the account and filed a FIR with the BKC Cyber Police Station.
