It has been two days since “Dangal” trailer has released and the buzz just keeps increasing. This Aamir Khan and Sakshi Talwar starrer has been foretold to be one of the most moving movies for the coming year. Well, it certainly did move Vidhu Vinod Chopra – to the point of him calling Aamir Khan an idiot.
Yes you heard it right, the innovative director called the perfectionist actor an idiot. But it is not what you think. Chopra lauded Khan on the amount of passion and perseverance he puts into each of his roles. He stated in a press meet of “Dangal” that only people as crazy as him for their craft could pull off such a challenging role. “Aamir is a mad man. We call him ‘idiot’ like you saw in 3 Idiots. So, only he can do this,” he said.
This is entirely true and anyone who has seen the trailer is bound to agree. Aamir plays Mahavir Singh Phogat, a wrestler who earned laurels for the country with his wrestling wonders. He, as usual, pulls off the character with such finesse that you are left mesmerized. The new entrants Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra, who play his daughters Geeta and Babita, also seem to be bringing a powerful performance. Not to mention that Sakshi totally stands her ground along with Aamir on the screen. The best part of the trailer is when Aamir’s character understands that no girl is lesser than a boy and says “Humari choriyan choron se kam hai ke” meaning Our girls are no less than boys. Makes us await the movie with that much desperation.
The trailer got a humongous response with more than 15 million views in under 48 hours. Vidhu Vinod Chopra also went on to say that “I really like Aamir as an artiste. He is excelling himself,” when asked about the trailer. The dedication that Aamir has shown to portray a character older than him with a weight of 95 kgs and then to drop down to a younger role with 70 kgs deserves a bow down. We are all set to watch how this dangal unfolds.
