On April 2nd 2017, the grand finale of Indian Idol Season 9 was aired which showed the boy hailing from Vishakapatnam, L.V. Revanth, taking home the singing crown. After a long but eventful journey through the season, he managed to edge out the first runner-up was Khuda Baksh while P.V.N.S. Rohit was named the second runner-up. But the moment was made even more memorable as Revanth received his trophy through the hands of none other than the cricketing legend – Sachin Tendulkar.
Now if you thought that Sachin was there just a as special guest, then you are in for a special treat as was the audience watching the show last night. After showing his grit on the ground, Sachin Tendulkar is now trying to show his mettle on the mic. The star batsman premiered his singing debut on Indian Idol in front of the world audience along with his partner in this – Sonu Nigam. The duo had already cause a storm when a picture of them came out on the internet a few days back with Sonu holding a bat and Sachin holding a mic – classic case of switching roles. But obvious, the picture went viral and as people guessed correctly, it was indeed a collaboration of the cricketer and the singer.
The sing is title ‘Cricket Wali Beat’ pulling strings from both of its heritages. Composed by Shamir Tandon, the song released on the sixth anniversary of India’s World Cup win in 2011. Tendulkar mentioned every single player he played his six World Cups with.
Speaking about his singing debut, Sachin said, “‘Sachin’s Cricketwali Beat’ is a very upbeat and feel good number. It’s a unique collaboration with the supremely talented Sonu Nigam, specially made for my new app 100MB. This is the first time the audience is going to see me sing and I hope all my fans enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed singing it.”
Not able to stop singing his praises, Sonu on the other hand stated than, “People fall in three categories – talented, genius and blessed. Sachin falls in the blessed category. I first heard him sing and told composer Shamir that Sachin is one to whom God has given something extraordinary. He is blessed with something divine,” he said. The music video will be available on MTV and MTV Beats from April 3 to 5.
