Mumbai: On Thursday, actress Jiah Khan‘s suicide case witnessed a new twist. The prosecution sought to invoke charge of murder against her alleged boyfriend Sooraj Pancholi, who is accused of abetting her death. Public Prosecutor Kalpana Hire told the special women’s court conducting the trial in the case that Rabiya (Jiah’s mother) is the informant and she says it’s the case of section 302 of IPC (murder). Ms Hire added that Rabiya was the first one who saw the body of the actress and hence Sooraj should be charged for murder.
Kalpana Hire also said that the court should also frame charges of rape and causing miscarriage without woman’s (Jiah) consent against the accused. On May 20, the special Judge A S Shende will continue to hear the arguments on framing of charges.
However, Pancholi’s advocate said that there is no evidence for framing the charges of murder against the actor and there was also no evidence against Pancholi to charge him for abetment. He added that the Jiah Khan’s abortion was a medical termination as there was no evidence to suggest that she went to doctors.
