Priyanka Chopra is fast becoming a global icon now, making India proud with her professional work and performances. Besides her acting appearances, she has been always involved in various altruistic pursuits and founded the NGO The Priyanka Chopra Foundation for Health and Education, which strives for women’s education, safety and empowerment.
Looking at her dedication towards charitable causes, United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), has bestowed upon her the honour of being a global goodwill ambassador. The desi diva went on to receive the ambassadorship at the hands of the football legend David Beckham and Netflix hit “Stranger Things” star Millie Bobby Brown. Priyanka, who has been associated with UNICEF for the past decade, received the honor with much grace and gratitude. “My wish for children is freedom. The freedom to think, the freedom to live. I – we – ask you to join us today to become the collective voice of the oppressed children across the world in our fight against the injustices that they have to endure every day. Along this decade-old journey with UNICEF, I have been on many field trips to villages and centres across India. On those trips, I spent time with numerous young girls and their families, and experienced firsthand the transformative power of empowering young girls with opportunities that are rightfully theirs. Together with my fellow, dedicated ambassadors, I am now proud to stand with UNICEF to help build a world where children’s rights are respected and protected,” Priyanka said on the occasion.
She was elected as the National Ambassador in 2010 continuing which she went on to be nominated for the global post. “We are seriously endangering our future, which is our children. Let’s choose humanity, let’s choose to act now, let’s choose to fight now and let’s choose to ensure a better world for our children, their children and the generations to come,” Priyanka said.
Chopra has also been seeing an upward wave in her career with her thriller series “Quantico.” She will also be seen starring in the hit film franchise “Baywatch.” She is sure riding high on all of her success – what a better person to be a goodwill ambassador, making all the children believe that dreams come true!
