Shah Rukh Khan’s “Raees”: Gangster Abdul Latif’s Son Demands Rs 101 Crore

Mumbai: Shah Rukh Khan‘s upcoming film “Raees” landed in hot water! On Friday, a local court in Ahmedabad issued a notice to the SRK’s production house in response to a suit filed by the son of gangster Abdul Latif, claiming damages for defaming his late father.

Red Chillies Entertainment Private Limited and co-producers Excel Entertainment and Rahul Dholakia Productions were issued notices by the Ahmedabad civil court judge RT Vatsani. According to reports, they are supposed to file their replies by May 11.

Directed by Rahul Dholakia, “Raees” is all about the Latif and his son Mustaq Ahmad sought injunction against the release of the film as well as its promotional material.

According to the suit, the second part of the movie, starring SRK and Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Mahira Khan in major roles, portrays Latif in a very defamatory manner and damages the family’s reputation. He demanded Rs 101 crore for the damages. The petitioner claims that when the script was being researched, his family members were consulted and the producers had also advertised that the film was based on Latif’s life.
