Mahesh Babu and Co.’s latest project is creating sensations upon sensations at the world wide box office. ‘Srimanthudu’ churned Rs 101.25 crore in its first week worldwide, and as a result the movie is currently the 2nd highest grossing Telugu movie in 2015 after ‘Baahubali’ .
‘Srimanthudu’ released on August 7 in more than 2,000 screens worldwide has hit the right chord with the audience. Not only were the performances top-notch and widely appreciated but the concept of ‘Srimanthudu’ has hit a high with many political leaders and NRIs coming forward to adopt villages. With all the hype from commoners and politicians alike, the film is still going hard against the box office cash registers ammasing massive numbers.
In a press release, Jyoti Deshpande, group CEO and MD of the film production and distribution of Eros, said, “The second quarter has been very strong indeed. “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” has done Rs. 500 crore and counting. We also released “Srimanthudu”, which has already crossed Rs. 100 crore. It is the second highest Telugu film grosser after “Baahubali”.
But some trade trackers like Andhra Box Office has different figures and claims that “Srimanthudu” is still away from the elite Rs.100-crore mark. According to Andhra Box Office, “Srimanthudu” has earned Rs. 86.2 crore in seven days.
But the thing is the numbers may differ a bit, but the fact is ‘Srimanthudu’ emerged as the biggest hit in the Telugu film industry after “Baahubali”.
