72 killed, over 300 injured in explosion at Lahore’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal park

Lahore: In a horrific incident, a suicide bomber killed at least 72 people, mainly women and children at a park in Lahore on Sunday. The attack is claimed by Pakistani Taliban faction which targeted Christians.
According to the officials, more than 300 people were injured, the explosion took place in the parking area of Gulshan-e-Iqbal park close to children’s swings. The park is famous for Lahore’s Christian community, many of whom had gone there to celebrate the Easter.

“When the blast occurred, the flames were so high they reached above the trees and I saw bodies flying in the air,” said Hasan Imran, 30, a resident who had gone to Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park for a walk.

One witness, who wished to be identified only by his first name, Afzal, told AP that he had taken 20 children to hospital and carried 3 dead bodies to a police car. “I can’t explain to you the tragic situation,” he said.
