On Tuesday, the Union Home Minister, Rajnath held a security review meeting in the wake of a terror attack on Amarnath pilgrims in Kashmir which had left 7 persons dead on Monday evening. The attack had left 19 people injured when militants fired at the bus in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, the cops said.

The meeting was called to look into possible security lapses which may have led to the attack on a bus that was carrying pilgrims from Gujarat.

The Sources said that the National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval, top Home Ministry, intelligence and paramilitary force officials attended the meeting to take stock of the situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, the senior Home Ministry officials were expected to visit Kashmir on Tuesday. They include Minister of State for Home Hansraj Ahir and Joint Secretary, Kashmir, Gyaneshwar Kumar.

“A fresh batch of 3,289 yatris had left Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in an escorted convoy of 185 vehicles around 3 a.m., on Tuesday for the Valley”, the officials said.
