Ambati Rayudu, a cricketer of the Indian Cricket Team from Andhra Pradesh, on the 3rd of July, announced retirement from all forms of cricket.

The middle order batsman announced his retirement from the Indian Premier League (IPL,) international cricket and all the forms of cricket.

The announcement came during the ongoing International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup 2019.

Although Rayudu did not reveal any reason behind his sudden retirement, it is suspected, he took this decision as he is disappointed he was not selected for the Indian Squad for the ICC World Cup.

When Shikhar Dhawan and Vijay Shankar were ruled out of the ICC series, the BCCI did not consider Ambati Rayudu as a replacement and instead chose Rishabh Pant and Mayank Agarwal.

Rayudu began his cricket career at the age of 16 in 2002, when he played first class during the Ranji Trophy 2001-2002 from Hyderabad. Later, in 2003, Ambati Rayudu got selected for the India A-Team and played for India A.

In 2004, Rayudu became the Captain of the Under 19 Cricket Team of India and played the ICC Under 19 World Cup hosted by Bangladesh.

Despite repeated attempts, Ambati Rayudu could not make it to the Indian Cricket Team until 2012. In 2013, he was selected for a One Day International (ODI) match against Zimbabwe, which was also his international debut.

Twitter is flooded with tweets and messages regarding the sudden announcement of Ambati Rayudu.
