Amaravati: The High Court, presided over by Justice Jyotirmayi Pratapa, has directed the police to issue a notice under Section 41A of the CrPC in the case involving the former head priest of TTD Ramana Deekshitulu. The order was issued on Thursday, following a case registered by the Tirumala Police on February 23 this year. The case was filed against Ramana Deekshitulu based on a complaint by Murali Sandeep from the IT department of TTD.

Sandeep alleged that Deekshitulu made inappropriate comments against officials of the Srivari Temple and TTD on social media platforms.

Ramana Deekshitulu subsequently filed a lawsuit in the High Court to dismiss the case. During the hearing, the petitioner’s counsel argued that the sections registered by the police carry sentences of up to seven years’ imprisonment. Considering this, the judge ordered the police to adhere to the notice provision of Section 41A.

The court also clarified that if the police file a charge sheet in the case, the petitioner is entitled to challenge it. With this directive, the proceedings in the case were concluded.
