Bombay HC lifts ban on Maggi

Mumbai: On Thursday, the High Court of Bombay lifted the ban on the popular noodle Maggi with the condition that manufacturing and selling would be allowed only after new tests. The court set aside the order passed by food authorities. The court asked the Nestle to re-test the product within 6 weeks in the accredited labs in Punjab, Andhra Pradesh and Jaipur. The company said that it would not sell the product till it will bag the clearance from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).

A division bench of Justice Burgess Colabawalla and Justice V M Kanade deemed the orders of FSSAI. Finally, the bench announced the verdict on the petition filed by Nestle regarding the ban on Maggi. The Bombay High Court said that the ban was imposed abruptly without following the principles of justice. The bench also refused to grant stay.
