Hyderabad: CM Revanth Reddy of Amaravati clarified recent controversies surrounding the implementation of crop loan waivers, particularly regarding the use of ration cards for identifying beneficiary families. In a recent statement, he outlined that loans up to Rs. 2 lakh based on passbooks will be waived, with the ration card serving to verify family details.

On the 18th of this month, loans under Rs. 1 lakh will see immediate waiver deposits into farmers’ accounts by evening. Reddy emphasized the participation of ministers, MLAs, and public representatives in these initiatives, ensuring transparency and accountability in fund allocation.

Guidelines for the crop loan waiver were issued through Government Order RT No. 567, detailing procedures applicable to all banks—Scheduled, Commercial, Regional Rural, and District Cooperative. These measures cover loans sanctioned and renewed from December 12, 2018, to December 9, 2023, addressing short-term credit challenges faced by farmers.
