Srinagar: A low intensity earthquake jolted Jammu and Kashmir in the wee hours of Tuesday. The quake with magnitude 5.5 shook the Kashmir valley and created panic among the people. However, no reports of loss of life or property have been registered so far.
According to an official of MET department, a moderate intensity earthquake with magnitude 5.5 measuring on Richter scale occurred at around 3.40 am on Tuesday. The epicenter of the quake was in Hindukush mountain range of Afghanistan.
