Farmers Protest: Collector, SP of Mandsaur Transferred

On Thursday, the Shivraj Singh Chouhan led government transferred the collector and the SP of Mandsaur district after the death of five farmers in police firing.

Swatantra Kumar Singh, the Collector of Mandsaur has been transferred to Mantralayam as a deputy secretary. Reports state that Singh has been replaced by O.P. Shrivastava.

Another transfer was of the superintendent of police of Mandsaur, O.P.Tripathi, who has been replace by Manoj Kumar Singh.

Avinash Sharma, DIG Ratlam Range is camping in Pipliamandi, where farmers have been staging agitation for the last seven days. They have demanded for loan waiver and better crop prices, and have defied prohibitory orders on Wednesday. The farmers beat up officials and also policemen and took to violence and arson. This resulted in firing, which killed five farmers.

This violence has been picked up by the opposition as a rallying point against Shivraj Chouhan. This increases the challenges faced by the CM in the state. The central government has deployed 1,100 RAF personnel to the violence hit state where the farmers have been protesting for loan waiver.
