Firing in Nagrota, J&K between militants and Jawans

An ongoing encounter between militants and security forces in Nagrota area of Jammu and Kashmir, as reports say, one soldier has succumbed to his injuries, and at least three militants are holed up inside the base. The reports say that the terrorists at 5.30am today targeted military location near White Knight Corps in Nagrota. The police said that”A group of heavily armed militants, believed to be four-to-five in number, attacked the 166 field regiment camp in Nagrota area of Jammu today (Tuesday) morning.” The field regiment is at Garrison town of Nagrota near the headquarters of Army’s 16 corps in Jammu and Kashmir state.

 

According to the latest update, Two Jawans are critical and one has succumbed to his injuries and is Martyred. This suicide attack has been planned by terrorists and they have come from the Srinagar side of the national highway. The artillery unit in Nagrota is on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway, about 15 km from Jammu and 39 km from Pakistan border. The police have also said that the terrorists first threw a grenade on the guard stationed and also started firing simultaneously. As of now Three terrorists are holed up and firing in still underway. All the schools in this area have been shut down and the army has quarantined this area and is under complete lock down.

In a second encounter, three militants were killed and a BSF jawan Sanjay Kumar was injured in firing near the Samba area. On the night of 28 and early morning of 29, there was a disturbance observed in thermal images in the Border Out Post Chamliyal, Samba. This area was immediately shut down and firing in underway and the militants are holed up in a tube well near this area.

This second area is very close to the border fence and also the International Border. The reports say that terrorists crossed International Border in Ramgarh sector of Jammu and took shelter in the villages near the border.
