On Saturday night, Ashok Kumar (60,) shot his 55 year old wife to death after she delayed serving him food. The incident took place in their home in Ghaziabad and the husband was arrested on Sunday.
On Saturday, around 11:45 P.M., in Mansarovar Park Colony in Kavi Nagar police station area, Sunaina, the victim was rushed to Sarvodaya Hospital. The woman had a gunshot wound to the head, the doctors declared her dead on arrival.
CMO Dr. Neeraj Garg reported, “The patient was already dead by the time she was brought to the hospital. There was no pulse on her.”
The police reported that Kumar drove a mini truck that he owned with the help of his youngest son Tinku (28.) Kumar’s older son Rinku (32) drives a private taxi. On Saturday night, the older son Rinku filed a complaint at Kavi Nagar police station and a FIR was registered against Kumar.
Rinku explained he and his wife Soni (28) were present along with his younger brother Tinku when the fight between the parents broke out. Rinku’s two children one 7 and the other 4 were asleep when the incident at the time.
Rinku said, “Around 9 P.M., my father returned home drunk and asked my mother for dinner around 11 P.M. A quarrel broke out between them as my mother refused to serve food immediately. Infuriated over the delay, my father whipped out a gun and threatened her. I, my wife and Tinku tried to intervene. But he opened fire and the bullet hit my mother on her head. She collapsed at the spot.”
A local policeman, Ajay Verma said, “The accused was taken into custody and later arrested. He has confessed to the crime.”
Kumar used a .315 bore revolver to shoot his wife to death, the police have seized the weapon.
Verma also reported, “The gun seized from him is illegal and we are trying to ascertain the source from which he procured it.”
