The Rajendranagar Police in Hyderabad arrested three people who killed an Ola driver and stole his car. The victim was identified as Mohammed Jahangir who worked as a driver for Ola.
The accused were identified as auto driver Mohammed Jahangir, car driver Shaik Hafeez and fabrication worker Mohammed Tanveer.
The police found the three involved plotted the plan on the 20th of April. The plan revolved around killing the driver and making money by selling parts of the car.
The three accused booked an Ola cab from Miyapur on the ruse of traveling to Patancheru. Rajendranagar ACP P. Ashok explained, “After reaching Patancheru, they convinced the cab driver to take them to Zaheerabad. Their intention was to find an isolated spot to kill the cab driver.”
The police also explained the accused offered extra money in cash to the driver to drive them out of the city. The three men got drunk in the cab and then smashed an empty bottle on the driver’s head.
They dragged the driver out of the car and bludgeoned his head with rocks and killed him. The three accused then drove the car back to Hyderabad but their plans of making money were ruined. The trio fled the scene and drove back to the city. However, their plans were foiled when they crashed the car as the driver Hafeez was drunk.
A police inspector said, “Hafeez was driving the vehicle in a drunken condition resulting in the crash. They then abandoned the vehicle. The body was recovered from the bushes in Zaheerabad and the stolen car from Jogipet.”
The incident that happened on the 20th of April but only came to light after the three accused surrendered. They were produced before a magistrate and sent to judicial custody.
