Hyderabad Traffic Police Catch Drunk School Auto Driver

In a shocking incident, the Hyderabad Traffic Police caught a school auto driver ferrying 9 children in an inebriated state. The police caught the accused Chandrayangutta at 8:30 A.M., on Thursday and did a breath analyzer test.

The police were shocked to find the alcohol content in Mr. Chandrayangutta was 228 mg/100 ml. The Government permits an alcohol level of only 30 mg/100 ml anything above this limit is considered drunk driving by the city’s police.   

The police seized the auto driver’s vehicle and informed the children’s parents about the incident. The Hyderabad Police are conducting a special drive against school auto drivers. This year the police have booked 130 cases of drunk driving by school auto drivers.   

Additional Traffic Commissioner Anil Kumar stated, “From now on we will do it throughout the year. We have given clear instructions to the parents and schools authorities to send their children in a proper vehicle which has a fitness certificate.”

Drunken driving is becoming a huge menace in Hyderabad with the police imprisoning 1,699 people just in the first four months of this year. A total of 9,648 charge sheets have been filed and Rs. 2.53 crores collected in fines. Nearly 680 people’s licenses were suspended in the first few months. A total of 69 people has their licenses canceled after being caught driving drunk.
