Sukhoi-30 IAFGuwahati, An Indian Air Force (IAF) Sukhoi SU-30MKI combat jet crashed in Assam’s Nagaon district around 1 p.m. on Tuesday, an official said, adding that both pilots had ejected and were safe.

Another of India’s frontline Sukhoi-30MKI went down after a technical snag in Assam on Tuesday afternoon, the sixth such crash of the “air dominance” fighters over the last 15 years. The two pilots, fortunately, managed to eject safely.

Going into the details,  twin-seat Sukhoi had taken off from the Tezpur airbase at 12.17pm on a routine sortie when a technical problem forced the two pilots to abandon the fighter. The IAF has ordered a court of inquiry to establish the exact reason behind the jet crashing into a thick forest around 36 km south of the Tezpur at 12.30pm.
