Karnataka: Heavy Rain Led To Expiry Of Two People

On Wednesday, following the heavy rainfall for 3 continuous days, two people passed away in Karnataka. One of the deceased from Chikmagalur, who is 33 years old, expired in the hospital after a tree fell on her. As per the report, the other person who expired was from Belagavi.

Landslides have been reported in many parts of the States including Chikmagalur districts, Belagavi, Kodagu and Shivamogga. These parts of the State have issues of trees being uprooted and also many instances of roads caving in. In addition to it, few bridges got sunk due to rains.

In the parts of Uttara Kannada and Ballari districts, people are suffering from not able to lead a normal life as it is being disrupted.

A popular news channel reported the flow of water to the Krishna river reached up to 1 lakh cusecs. It happened after the water was released from Rajapur barrage which is situated at the Karnataka Maharashtra border.

The Malaprabha river has witnessed an increase in the level of water with its dam which is recording upto 2,043.60 feet of the water level. The Tunga Dam has reached an utmost level of 599.24 metres. Furthermore, the Linganamakki Dam is registering a water level of 1771.4 feet and it is less than 100 ft short of its full capacity.

Several parts of the State received moderate to heavy rainfall with tiny pockets receiving no rainfall, the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Center said.
