Indian troops are still working towards eliminating terrorist activity in Jammu and Kashmir. On Tuesday, the security forces were successful in eliminating a head from Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) Ayub Lelhari, in an encounter.
The encounter took place at Banderpora village in Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir.
The state’s police chief, S.P. Vaid tweeted, “Ayub Lelhari District Commander LeT killed in Pulwama. Well done boys!”
The security forces received intel that the LeT district commander was in the area of Bandepora. Along with Rashtriya Rifles, the state police and CRPF the mission was carried out successfully.
The state police reported, “When the vehicle in which Ayub Lalhari was traveling was signaled to stop, it tried to jump the check post, after which the LeT commander started firing at the security forces.”
The police further added, “Two policemen were injured in the initial firing after which an encounter started in which Lalhari was killed.”
The LeT group is crashing as earlier this week Indian forces killed LeT leaders Dujana and Bashir Lashkari last week.
