Indian Government Bans Links to The Blue Whale Game

On Wednesday, Union Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad addressed the issue of the Blue Whale Challenge Game. He said that any violations of government orders to remove all the links will be dealt strictly.

He was quoted saying, “We received several complaints related to the Blue Whale game that it has been provoking youngsters to commit suicide. We have taken tough measures. Under the IT eco-system, no initiative shall be permitted which provokes young boys to commit suicides. It is plainly unacceptable.”

The Minister further added, “I appeal to all tech platforms to abide by the government instructions. Any violation will be viewed seriously.”
The Indian government has contacted technology giants, Google, Facebook, Microsoft and Yahoo to remove links that lead to this deadly game.

The Ministry sent a letter to the technology companies that read, “You are hereby required to ensure that any such link of this deadly game in its own name or any similar game is immediately removed from your platform.”

The Blue Whale Game is a game created by a Russian 4 years ago that pushes depressed children to kill themselves. Over a 100 people have died due to the game and although, the original person behind the game was arrested the game is still being circulated by unknown people.
